A DAY OF TROUBLESHOOTING

I probably deserve what I am receiving from this Healey now.  I decided to reinstall some of the original electrical equipment on this car because they were, by enlarge, a bit pricey.  It was probably a good decision because most of it works as intended.  However, the signal lights function only on the left side and the heater blower works all the time.  I will probably disassemble the heater switch and try to repair it.  Hopefully, by close of business tomorrow, I will have everything working...wish I hadn't said that.



The interior work will begin as soon as the electrical is totally functional.

BUMPERS INSTALLED

The chrome trim, or "jewelry" as we call it, brings this Healey to life.  It enhances the beautiful paint work.  There is not an abundance of chrome on this car, but it seems to accentuate the body lines perfectly.  

The rear bumper, badges, hinges and trunk latch are the perfect vintage accents.  

The headlight trim, badges and prominent grille set this car apart from all others...a work of art.

Today, we spent a few hours troubleshooting a few electrical problems.  We discovered a few electrical "quirks" that didn't appear on the factory wiring diagram...Austin Healey.  There doesn't seem to be a "standard" assembly procedure for this car.  It seems they built it with the parts they had available...again, Austin Healey. But, whatever the magnitude of the problems we encounter, this Big Healey is spectacular.

PAINTING COMPLETED

John and I worked all weekend in order to complete the paint work on schedule.  A special thanks to John for his dedication to this project and his willingness to work the necessary hours.  The finish on this Healey is spectacular.

We were fortunate enough to locate two matching vintage Westinghouse sealed beam headlights.  A friend, Steve Miller had them in stock...he has everything.

 John finished the Old English White paint application today...a perfect job.

 The body lines are straight and the panels are true.  No blemishes to be found. This paint is what you would expect to find on a concours restoration.

 The paint has yet to be blocked with 3000 grit paper (one more time) and buffed.  Then the final wax will be applied.  Don't misunderstand, it looks outstanding now, but when John is finished, there will be people standing in line at the Hilton Head Concours d'Elegance to see it.

DOORS FITTED TODAY

With the doors in red and the initial blocking and buffing completed, it was time to fit them in place.  We had done this operation several times so there was nothing new here.  The fit was good and the margins are typical Austin Healey 3000.

Next the coves will be masked off and painted Old English White.  We also fitted the latch mechanisms to both doors today in preparation of the interior trim panels.
